EPL: West Ham bid farewell to David Moyes as contract winds down

In a statement released on Monday evening, West Ham United announced the impending departure of David Moyes by mutual consent as his contract draws to a close at the conclusion of the 2023/24 season.

After a tenure spanning four and a half years at the London Stadium, Moyes leaves behind a legacy marked by two notable top-seven Premier League finishes, along with commendable runs in the UEFA Europa League, reaching both the semi and quarter-finals.

His crowning achievement came last season with a triumphant victory in the UEFA Europa Conference League, as West Ham clinched a 2-1 win over ACF Fiorentina in Prague, securing their first major trophy since the 1980 FA Cup and their first European triumph since 1965.

With the departure of Moyes imminent, West Ham has initiated the recruitment process for his successor, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the club.

“West Ham United can confirm David Moyes will leave the Club by mutual consent at the end of the 2023/24 season, when his contract expires,” West Ham’s statement partly read.
